Calculate entered-depth volumes
Volume is area × depth
Convert the entered depth to metres, then multiply it by the entire patio footprint. Base and bedding layers occupy the full footprint, including the surface joint area. Do not subtract joints from the base volume.
Metric: volume m³ = area m² × depth mm / 1000. Imperial: volume yd³ = area ft² × depth in / 324. One cubic yard is exactly 0.764554857984 m³.
A worked example
A 12 m² patio at an entered 100 mm base depth needs 1.2 m³ at that depth. At 25 mm bedding depth, sand is 0.3 m³. With 600 stock pavers and 10% extra, the order is 660. At 2.50 each, base at 65/m³ and sand at 70/m³, the subtotal is 1,650 + 78 + 21 = 1,749 in the same currency.

These are geometric volumes, not delivered loose volumes or weights. Compaction, bulking, moisture, grading and product density are not estimated. No universal tonnes-per-cubic-metre factor is assumed. Polymeric jointing sand is not bedding sand; joint fill depends on paver thickness and the specific product and is not included.
No labour, excavation, disposal, geotextile, edging, drainage, delivery or tax is included. The calculator does not specify a safe base depth for vehicles, local soils, frost or drainage. Obtain local installation guidance. Enter zero for an excluded item rather than assuming it is free.
